About RONN SUTTON

I’m a professional Ottawa-based freelance artist and I created this site to showcase some of the work I’ve done throughout my career in comic, animation, illustration, and other related fields.
As a multiple Aurora Award nominee for Artistic Achievement, I’ve taught cartooning at the Nepean Visual Arts Centre and have had my work profiled on Life Channel’s TV program Eros. In 2022, I was inducted into the Joe Shuster Awards Hall of Fame.
Always available for commission, my artwork is created by me (no AI) as a fully penciled drawing, completed black and white inked art, and sometimes as a full-colour illustration. Examples of my work can be found in:
Comic Books: Elvira, Mistress of the Dark (46 issues), Fear Agent, Honey West, The Phantom, Man From U.N.C.L.E., Cases of Sherlock Holmes, Vampira, Spinnerette, Starbikers, Draculina and many more for a variety of publishers that have included Claypool, Dark Horse, Moonstone, Renegade, Northstar, Vortex, Brainstorm, etc.
Graphic Novels: I drew the Lucifers Sword MC: Life and Death in an Outlaw Motorcycle Club graphic novel written by Hells Abgel Phil Cross (published by Motorbooks), and I contributed stories to Gothic Tales of Haunted Love as well as Roads Not Taken and many other graphic anthologies.
On-Line Comics: Edgar Rice Burroughs Inc. (Carson of Venus and The Man-Eater), Stan Lee’s Guardian Project (Blackhawk w/ Matt Haley), Minus-One for Vancouver’s Zeroes2Heroes, four 30 page romance comics (Arrow Publishing) and the War of 1812 (“Forged In Fire”) tied-in with several hour-long historical recreation television specials.
Illustrations: Maclean’s magazine, Canadian Business, Toronto Star, Saturday Night, Ottawa Citizen, Toronto Life, Business Journal, Owl, Good Life, On Spec, and others, as well as seven years of freelance assignments drawing courtroom sketches for TV and print.
Animation: Four separate studios on TV commercials, half-hour TV cartoon shows (Savage Dragon, Rescue Heroes) and a Spielberg-produced feature film.
Book Covers and Movie Posters: I recently began painting and my work is being featured on the covers of Panthans Journals. In addition, I provided the cover art for Pulp Reality No. 5, the new anthology coming out in 2025. In 2022, I provided the artwork for the sci-fi movie Galaxy Warriors.
